| | | I dont think its so much that he CANT hit 50+ yarders, i just think its that the Bears never attempt 50+ yarders, so he rarely gets the chance

| | | actually his longest ifr 49 yards...never hit a 50 yarder...and close only counts in horse shoes and hand granades....he is WAY overpaid at this point....
One thing I heard on matt yurko and harry(sp) was they think that this is an inditement of how little they trust grossman(used his name specifically) of being able to punch it in the endzone. Went onto say that we had the best starting feild position of any team last year, and did the least with it; so therefore Gould's lack of leg strength isn't really a problem b/c we tend to get close enough to were 50 isn't necessary.
Still WAY over paid. |

Sure, say it doesn't count and you would be right, however, that is all the proof I need to say that he can and has the ability to at least kick a 53 yard field goal. Like I also said before, that ball would have been close at 60 yards too. There may be some flaws in my logic here, but there is no denying that he has indeed proved what I have said in a game situation.

| | | okay, I'll give you a called back fg, but that is still only one, and it didn't count so it has to be taken w/a grain of salt.
There is also the lack of leg strength on kick off's, how many touchback's does he have; let me guess 1 also?
Don't get me wrong I like Gould, I just don't think he deserves to be the highest paid kicker, ecspecially when we could use that money on Hester and Harris. |

Elam, the buff. kicker and viniterri all make more and think he and sea-bass in raiders close on per yr contract.. and i'lladd of that 15.5 we dont know how much is "incentives" he may neer see which again "could" make his deal only 12 mill or 2 mill/yr if he doesn't hit teh incentives( which haven't been released yet)
FWIW other top kicker deals:
1. Gould deal is $16 mill/6trs( keeps 2008 same) so its 16 mill/yrs or 2.67/yr
Josh Brown’s five-year contract with the Rams makes him one of the highest-paid kickers in the NFL. Brown’s deal is worth $14.2 million, including a $4 million signing bonus., whiich is more at $2.84 mill/yr
According to NFL Players Association figures, the two highest-paid kickers in terms of 2007 salary cap count were Buffalo’s Rian Lindell ($3.26 million) and Denver’s Jason Elam ($3.03 million). |

| | | As a receiver? Not a chance. As a kick returner? Compare the total points scored for the team.

| | | I remember thinking semi-highly of Edge (Paul) and then he turned into a piece of crap. Through 79 kickoffs last year, Robbie Gould notched 3 touchbacks. He had 11 touchbacks in 95 kickoffs in 2006. He wrangled one 1 in 54 in 2005. This is a typically forgotten stat that I'd like to see improve this season. Gould's forte is that he's consistent inside 45. Good for Robbie - His path is cool, but at the same time it can be a concern. Perhaps there's a reason he wasn't found earlier? He's been solid for us thus far, but is there any statistical trend to suggest that he's improving/declining? I would've liked to seen how he played this season before shelling more out for him. |

Robbie gets some great hang-time on his KO's and that allows his ST unit to make plays on the return man. I'm fine with him getting the ball to the 5 darn near every time, with above average hang.

With guys like Ayanbadejo gone and the liklihood that personnel like Israel Idonije will see a more featured role on defense - Will our cover team... Be able to cover? I hope so and I am confident in Dave Toub's ability to develop talented specialists.
Do you remember when Wanny would have his post-game slam session for anyone named Todd... LOL? Typically it was Todd Perry and Todd Sauerbrun. I remember something along the lines of "Todd's a veteran. He knows better. Daaahht... He outkicked the coverage again."
Anywho... I don't mean to come across as anti-Gould. He's been a steal. I've just been so very disappointed in our offseason that it's upsetting that this unfortunately ranks as big news for us. |

We get back tomie healthy, dusty from IR, drafted harrison( first round talent), alex brown back to a starter with anderson back oin his sack specialist role...and big toe showed can be the run stuffer
i'd say izzy will have alot less role, unless injuries hit againa, he's a beast on "D'( both as the wedge and blocking kicks) | | | |
