Did anyone hear that Ricky Williams turned down an invite to be on board Benson's boat?
Heard it on ESPN radio today, so that leaves two possiblities:
1) Benson has worse judgement then Ricky
or,
2) No pot was on board Bensons boat
Bears | Benson's court date moved
Mon, 19 May 2008 16:35:39 -0700
ESPNews reports Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson was scheduled to appear in court Monday, May 19, in regards to his charges of drunken boating and resisting arrest. The court date was moved to June 30.
The Travis County Attorney's Office and the LCRA have chosen to withhold audio taken during the arrest of Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson earlier this month. Benson was arrested by LCRA police officers the night of May 3rd after they suspected him of boating while intoxicated.
The former University of Texas football star denies the charges.
KXAN learned audio, not video, was recorded during Benson's arrest after we issued an open records request to the LCRA for any video of the arrest. We were told the investigation was handed over to the Travis County Attorney's Office and that not video was taken, only audio.
But what about the public’s desire to find out whether the police are mistreating citizens? Benson has claimed he was treated badly by the officers who arrested him for boating while intoxicated, and the audio could shed light on whether Benson’s claims are valid.
I'm not buying the 'there's no video, so the cops are automatically guilty of brutality' line, either. Yes, there are crooked cops that think they're above the law, but there are also ones (more so than not) that do their job in accordance with the law.
It's quite possible that Benson was being a drunk ASS. Is that so hard for people to believe?
