| | | Arch has 2mill left in Sb
So he makes $730 K and if split it in to 1 mill 2008 1 mill 2008 save $270K, but have $1 mill extra in dead space 2009
RMJ- has $3 mill left SB, makes $1,065,000 in 2008
so its 1.5 mill- 1.065= costs $435,000 off cap 2008, 1.5 mill dead space 2009
Benson-makes $820,000 has 4.8 mill left Sb so
2.4 mill-820K= $1.58 mill cap hit 2008, $2.4 mill dead space 2009 |

TEAM-BY-TEAM ADJUSTED CAP NUMBERS
Posted by Mike Florio on March 16, 2008, 2:08 p.m.
Though it’s generally known that the per-team spending limit for 2008 is $116 million ($116,729,000, to be exact), each team has an adjusted cap number. The variations are due in large part to so-called likely to be earned incentives (LTBEs) that were charged against the 2007 cap but then carried over when not earned, and so-called not likely to be earned incentives (NLTBEs) that were not charged against the 2007 cap but earned in 2007 and thus charged in 2008.

The Bears will have wide receiver Rashied Davis back next season after the wide receiver signed his one-year, $927,000 tender Friday.
Davis, a restricted free agent, received the tender at the beginning of this year's signing period. It gave the Bears the right to match any offer from another team.
Friday was the deadline for restricted free agents to receive offers, and none was forthcoming. Davis was productive as a slot receiver in 2006, less so last season, when the emergence of Devin Hester and the general malaise of the passing game limited his chances.
The departures of Muhsin Muhammad and Bernard Berrian this offseason have opened up more opportunities for the holdovers, and Davis should be in the running for a prominent role. |

| | | Making sense of the Urlacher dollars and cents
Here is a look at the Brian Urlacher contract numbers so you can boil the situation down to the dollars and cents because no matter what is said ... it is all about the money.
Urlacher currently has four years remaining on the $56.65 million, nine-year contract he signed in 2003. That extension came with two years remaining on his rookie contract.
There is $22.4 million remaining to be paid in base salary. He’s passing on a minor workout bonus of $50,000 by skipping the voluntary workout program.
Here is how it’s divided: 2008 $3.95 million
2009 $4.95 million
2010 $6.15 million
2011 $7.35 million
The offer the Bears made Urlacher would add $18 million to the existing deal with a one-year extension that would carry through the 2012 season when he would be 34 years old. It would adjust the contract as such: $5 million signing bonus
2008 $3.95 million base pay plus $1 million play-time bonus*
2009 $4.95 million base pay plus $1 million play-time bonus*
2010 $6.15 million base pay plus $1 million play-time bonus*
2011 $7.35 million base pay plus $1 million play-time bonus*
2012 $9 million base pay
* Urlacher would need to be on the field for 85 percent of the defensive snaps to trigger the bonus in each season.
So the new money breaks down with $5 million guaranteed as a bonus, $9 million in base pay in 2012 and $1 million payable in a play-time bonus in the next four seasons.

| | | WR Davis signs three-year contract Rashied Davis did not have to go elsewhere to get the multi-year deal he was seeking.
The wide receiver, who signed his one-year tender as a restricted free agent last Friday, agreed to a three-year contract Wednesday. Terms of the deal are not yet available, but it’s believed he received a little more than $1 million to sign.
Davis had hoped to land an offer sheet but no teams stepped up before the deadline last week. It was a situation where clubs liked him but didn’t believe they would be able to construct a contract that the Bears would not step up and match. Davis proved valuable as a slot receiver in 2006 and stepped forward to be a key member on special teams last season. This would seem to secure his position on the roster.
``We both knew this is where Rashied wanted to be,’’ agent Wynn Silberman said. ``It was a question of whether or not we could get there financially. Both sides dug in and we discovered maybe there was a zone for an agreement. Rashied gets some security and we’re all happy.’’
It’s the first positive contract news the Bears have had in a while as they’re in a public staredown with Brian Urlacher and work on and off to negotiate deals for return man Devin Hester, tackle Tommie Harris and kicker Robbie Gould.
Check back a little later on for more. |

| | | .. Dollars and sense: A look at the Davis deal
We’ve got the numbers on the Rashied Davis deal.
It’s pretty much what his camp was seeking when it went shopping in restricted free agency. Davis turned down an extension from the club during last season and the move paid off. He had signed a one-year tender for $927,000 this season and would have been an unrestricted free agent next March. Signing now gets him some security and keeps him where he wants to be.
The base value of the three-year contract is $3.87 million. Escalators can max it out at $5.87 million.
Click below for all the details. 2008
$1.1 million signing bonus
$50,000 workout bonus
$520,000 base pay
Total: $1.67 million
Cap figure: $936,667 2009
$400,000 roster bonus
$50,000 workout bonus
$765,000 base pay Total: $1.215 million
Cap figure: $1,181,667
2010
$50,000 workout bonus
$935,000 base pay Total: $985,000
Cap figure: $1,351,667
The escalators in the contract are tied to receptions and there are three tiers. Davis can trigger the first tier with 45 receptions.

| | | it looks with our draft we are looking at June 1 cuts
I think
Arch
RMJ
maybe Gattis(no biggie)
those are two of our larger ones
I cant imagine Bazuin or Izzy getting cut but we drafted a DE unless we IR him due to a paper cut lol
Would we be in bad shape if we cut Arch or RMJ

Would we be in bad shape if we cut Arch or RMJ | nope RMJ is cap-even after june first( meaning his cap space=salary) we take a slight loss in arch, but nothing major
arch has 2 mill left in Sb so would be 1 mill cap hit- 730K in salry or only 230K to cut |

| | | first estimate on draft pick $$"
First-round draft pick Chris Williams is expected to sign a five-year contract with roughly $9 million guaranteed. The Bears will do all they can to avoid those types of snags.
Second-round draft pick Matt Forte will be working off the deal of Sidney Rice, the No. 44 pick from 2007. Rice collected a signing bonus of $1.316 million for his four-year deal. | | The Following User Says Thank You to dabears54 For This Useful Post: | |

| | | updated for Arch being cut( yipee!)
he was scheduled to make $1.73 mill ( $1 mill Sb + 730K salary)
So we know take a $2 mill cap hit for his unamortized Sb- 1.73 or 270K off 2008 projection
and now $13.544 million under cap overall |

2. Darwin walker- 2.4 mill( unamortized bonus)-1.15 mill(salary)-$5.2 mill Rb)=Saves $3.95 mill to cut
3. Moose- 3mill( Sb)- 1.6 mill Salary- 500K Rb= 900,000 in cap space to cut
4. Fred miller- 2.2 Mill( Sb)- 4 mill salary = Saves $1.8 million to cut

6. RMJ- $3 million(unamortized Sb)-$1.85 mill( salary)= $1.15 million to cut( but saves $9.5 mill in future salries in 2009/10)
So would save team $1.42 mill in total to cut all 6.. But will also say some will need to be replaced, so savings not very significant | 5 out of 6 so far
i think rmj is june 1
