who is cuttable without destroying next years cap | top 6 motown:
Potential cap hits:
1. Brian Griese- $2.7 million ( unamortized bonus left)- 1.4 mill ( salary)- 300,000( roster bonus)= 1 million in cap space to cut
2. Darwin walker- 2.4 mill( unamortized bonus)-1.15 mill(salary)-$5.2 mill Rb)=Saves $3.95 mill to cut
3. Moose- 3mill( Sb)- 1.6 mill Salary- 500K Rb= 900,000 in cap space to cut
4. Fred miller- 2.2 Mill( Sb)- 4 mill salary = Saves $1.8 million to cut
5. Adam Archueta- 2 mill( Sb left- he got a 3 mill Sb and a 2 mill roster bonus for 2007= 5 mill guaranteed)- $730,000 salary= $1.28 million to cut
6. RMJ- $3 million(unamortized Sb)-$1.85 mill( salary)= $1.15 million to cut( but saves $9.5 mill in future salries in 2009/10)
So would save team $1.42 mill in total to cut all 6.. But will also say some will need to be replaced, so savings not very significant |

| | | I figured Walker and Miller would 100% be cut I didnt think it would be that many more people on top of that
like I thought we might be stuck with Moose for a couple more years
if someone retires does that help the cap out instead of cutting them. I know it isnt happening just wondering how retiring effects any signing bonus on the cap

| | | well then use this opportunity to learn ask some questions
with 20 mil free in cap and cutting those players it still puts us in a good position to add one big FA and resign Harris and even Briggs if we wanted to. I really dont think going crazy in FA will be the answer. It looks like a weak FA in regards to the positions we want to improve on. If we clean up on all those contracts this offseason the 2009 offseason we should balloon with extra cap space

If we clean up on all those contracts this offseason the 2009 offseason we should balloon with extra cap space | My guess and hope right, is we concentrate on adding 1-2 Olineman in F/A.. and of guys that will come "reasonable".. Such as travelle wharton from panthers, lilja from colts or starks from pitts( faneca too expensive, esp at age) or even jordan gross( depending on what he wants)
I'd also give a quick ring to Bryant johnson's Agent- and use that as a "baseline" for berrian,, if berrian will not take Braynat johnson money, id' let him go and pick up johnson- who IMo is a much better all around WR than berrian( goes into middle), but with Laryy johnson and anquan boldin, never got a chance to shine or pout up huge stats... get him to another team and IMO he's a 1,000+ WR Bryant Johnson, UFA, Arizona Cardinals
Johnson flew under the radar once again this season, but those in the know consider him fairly talented. He’s overshadowed by star receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, but Johnson runs great routes, has good hands, and at 6’3” his size makes him an appealing option. He’s caught at least 35 passes in each of his four seasons, including 49 receptions in 2004, and has a touchdown scored in each season, with four coming in ’06. Although he has had a drop-off in production this season, Johnson will likely find a bigger role in another offense in ’08. |

| | | Johnson could be a quick replacement for Moose if he is cut. I dont really watch the Cardinals they are such a bore. How is his hands?
for the oline I dont want to bandaid it with 30+year old players like Feneca. He is good and deserves big bucks maybe for three more seasons but he is going to demand a 6 year deal I dont want to pay for three years of ineffectiveness cause of old age setting in.
I like Gross but like you said he will be costly and he is a RT. I would rather spend that kind of money on a LT.
Starks is a back up right now at RT. He looks good but I dont know how much of Pitts oline success is cause they are a good oline or is it that they have a QB that scrambles. Now Leonard Davis got moved to LG and he has excelled as a G opposed to T. Do you think Starks can play LG? He is huge and a big space eater.
the main thing I dont want to see happen is someone have a good post season and gets hyped up in FA and we pour money on the player. We almost did that with Randel El and that would have killed us.

| | On the lineman, that's why put out a few motown, you kinda do the "due diligence" and "feelers" and find which are quickly getting out of range and target the one's that will come reasonable( ie not hyped)..We need help immediately on line and while draft helps long term( do think we go heavily on oline in draft)- you need vets for 2008, be "nice" to think a rook can step in and be good right away, and while Oline and rb most likley to happen for a rook, hate to have to depend on it.
And johnson has very good hands.. he's produced when fitzgerlad was hurt.. just hard to get rep's with those 2 ahead of him avg. 18 yards a catch last year and at 6'3'' 220 alot more durable than berrian Bryant Johnson: Game Logs |

| | Hey DB great to see ya posting over here with us again, I was bored at work and cleaned it up a bit, and I am far from good at numbers and don't know what the hell I'm doing most of the time LOL. But I got different totals and checked all the numbers, so maybe I'm just missing something.
Anyway here it is and I attached the Excel file too for some of you that know all about the numbers to enlighten us on, if you need it.
Let me know and I can add it to your first post.
