Member Conduct

EVERYONE: We're officially in the off-season now and going through "football withdrawal" of some sorts. There have been some recent goings-on here lately as far as conduct issues go that those of us on the staff want to bring to your attention:

(1) Name-calling and insults sometimes start flying when there is a strong difference of opinion; that as well as setting flame bait on purpose, posting something with the sole intent to piss somebody off and attacking another poster isn't allowed here and if the situation warrants a warning one will be handed out to the guilty party or parties. As much as we don't want to lock threads because a conversation is getting out of hand, if after a few reminders to stop it keeps up, we often have no other choice. We're all adults here and should be able to carry on an adult conversation without all the childish stuff. Agree to disagree with the written word; don't take out your difference of opinion on the poster in the open forums - if you have that personal of an issue with somebody else use the PM system to discuss it. If there are those you just don't get along with, the best advice we can give is to put them on Ignore.

We all have people, places and things we like and dislike, and that won't change. It's a matter of showing RESPECT - after all, you wouldn't walk into somebody else's house and let your dog pee all over the carpet, right?

Even though this is an online message board and you're not talking face-to-face with another person or hearing a live voice over the phone, you're still carrying on a conversation with somebody else. We're all here to have fun and talk about a variety of topics, but it only takes a few bad apples to spoil it for the rest of the bunch - and it doesn't have to be this way.

If your style is more suited to heated conversation in a less-moderated format, perhaps dabearS.com may be a better choice for you than this board.

(2) We're pretty laid-back compared to the main board and are a lot more liberal when it comes to profanity than they are, but there is a place where we draw the line - meaning dropping the "f" bomb and a certain four-letter word beginning with the letter "c" - those are taboo. There are women posting here who don't need to see the "c" word, and I'm sure some posters who let their kids lurk here don't want them to see the real hard-core stuff either. Same with nudity, porn and anything raunchy enough to be NC-17 - that can't be posted in the open forums. The place for that stuff is the Enter At Your Own Risk forum; if you're 18 or over and need the password to get in, PM a staff member and we can give it to you.

(3) DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. If you see anybody here just causing trouble or posting spam, report the poster to the staff. It's not as though you're ratting on anybody, you're helping us make our job easier and to help keep the peace.
